ABLAZE

Ablaze is a newly launched program run by Ablaze Idea Lab in partnership with New Media Group which aims to nurture startups in the online media and consumer marketing segment

The program plans to invest with HKD500,000+ in marketing and media exposure for each new startup. And will assist to line up appropriate partnerships and connections to enable idea commercialization. Co-working spaces will be provided when needed, and startups will be able to access New Media’s resources and facilities for editorial support and content creation.
Ablaze is looking for startups that have a good fit either with industry relevancy (relate to Travel, Eat and Dine, Teens, Fashion/lifestyle, Beauty/Women, Parenting) or discipline relevancy (digital adverting and media, Content marketing / distribution, Consumer products / services, Marketplaces / E-commerce, Audience analysis and measurement)

The Applications is accepted throughout the year. It’s a 6-month program to start with, and if the concept of the startup performs well during the period, the program will also arrange further support afterwards.

BRINC LTD

Brinc is an ultra hands-on hardware accelerator, manufacturing studio, and distribution company that supports physical entrepreneurship. We offer comprehensive programs tailored for IoT, connected hardware, drones, and robotics startups looking for speed, access, and the know-how to build successful companies.

BETATRON

Betatron invests in promising startups, refines their business models and fast-tracks them to grow and scale over an intensive three-month period. Applications are now open for Cohort #5 and close on 18th July 2019.

We provide our portfolio companies with financing as well as an intensive acceleration program which focuses on business development, growth and fundraising.

We also provide our startups with one-on-one mentorships with leading executives and integrate our start-ups into our business networks across multiple industries.

The Investment

CYBERPORT INCUBATION PROGRAMME

Target Industry:

Fintech, AI/Big Data, eCommerce, Education Tech, IoT/Wearables, eSport, ICT-related.

Purpose:

To support the development of the Hong Kong ICT industry by providing incubated companies with access to advanced facilities and resources, support in business development, financing & hiring of graduate interns, as well as entrepreneurship and technology training.

Eligibility:

1) A registered company in Hong Kong or plan to form one soon;

2) Have sufficient funds, or have plans or potential to raise sufficient funds to operate for at least one year;

3) Develop a new project/product in ICT sectors

Support/Funding Details:

a) On-site – HK registered start-ups with office at Cyberport, the maximum grant is HK$ 500,000 and will have a 24-month rent free office space

b) Off-site – HK registered start-ups with office outside Cyberport, the maximum grant is HK$ 500,000

Design INCUBATION PROGRAMME

(DIP) by Hong kong design centre

As a major incubation programme fully supported and funded by the Hong Kong SAR Government and managed by Hong Kong Design Centre, the Hong Kong Design Incubation Programme (DIP) aims to nurture design start-ups at the early stage of their business development, with hardware and software support.

Entrepreneur First

Entrepreneur First brings together the world’s most ambitious people to build deep technology startups from scratch in London, Singapore, Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong and Bangalore. We help individuals form teams, develop ideas, and subsequently raise funding from investors in order to build the world’s most important companies.

Over the course of a 12-week program, you are introduced to a diverse, highly selective group of smart and insightful people — all looking to start their journey as deep tech entrepreneurs. Once you find a co-founder you’d like to work with, you then work together to develop an idea, and ultimately, build your company. Companies created at EF Form span a wide set of sectors, from affordable robotics to AI-driven investment management platforms.  During this period, EF provides a HK$30,000 monthly stipend for each cohort member.

At the end of the 12 weeks, if your team has an ambitious vision, you’ll likely need funding to get customers and build a product. EF makes an immediate investment of HK$450,000 in your company upon acceptance into EF Launch, a subsequent 12-week programme that provides continued guidance and a spot before hundreds of seed investors at a regional Demo Day.

We take two cohorts per year, late January and late July.  Applications close late November and late May respectively.

Eureka Nova

Eureka Nova is a startup incubator founded by the New World Group to support young entrepreneurs. By leveraging our network and partners, this platform helps startups to collect innovative ideas, connect with like-minded entrepreneurs and collide to co-create disruptive business ideas.

FASHION INCUBATION PROGRAMME (FIP) by Hong kong design centre

FIP is an advanced business of fashion incubator for ardent fashion talents and brands. 15 designers will be selected to join a 2-year programme over a 3-year period. FIP aggregates expert business and technical advisory, resources, tools & technical expertise and support to nurture a new generation of fashion designers and design entrepreneurs. FINTECH INNOVATION LAB BY ACCENTURE

Launched in 2014, the FinTech Innovation Lab Asia-Pacific facilitated by Accenture, gives early and growth-stage companies the platform they need to develop and prove their proposition alongside the world’s leading financial institutions. This 12-week mentorship programme runs in 3 locations across the globe (New York, London and Hong Kong).

HONG KONG SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PARKS CORPORATION’S INCU-APP PROGRAMME

Target Industry:

Web based application/Smartphone based Apps/PC or internet or smartphone console games.

Purpose:

To provide start-up support to those companies working on web technologies during their inception stages

Eligibility
  1. An applicant must be a Hong Kong registered technology start-up company established for no more than two years before the date of application. HKSTP may request for proof including but not limited to audited financial report of the company.
  2. Founding team members must hold more than 50% of the company at the time of application submission. Founding members must be individual shareholders or non-operating holding companies (as reflected by the Articles of Association or any other valid proof).
  3. Minimum one full time staff in the company, and all staff must be able to work in Hong Kong legally. The team of full-time engineers and technologists must, individually or collectively, own at least 10% of the company’s equity. If the applicant has technology from a University and the applicant is approved by the said University, any shares held by the founding university professor(s) shall count towards the 10% equity ownership requirement.
  4. At least 50% of full time staff must be engaged in technology related work.
  5. Implementation of R&D activities at the Incubation Centre. It cannot operate a sales and marketing office only.
  6. No retail activities or massive production at the Incubation Centre.
  7. The applicant’s office and work bench set up at the Incubation Centre must be environmentally friendly (i.e. must not create smell, noise or other elements which may disturb others) and should not handle hazardous materials, and must be able to operate in an office building
  8. Normally, a shareholder working for the applicant cannot be a shareholder or former shareholder who is working for or worked for any of the following:

i.     more than two other companies in the same field as applicant that have previously joined and failed to graduate from any incubation programme operated by HKSTP, Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company or Hong Kong Design Centre (together the “HK Incubators”);

ii.     a company in the same field as applicant that has previously joined and graduated from any incubation programme operated by any of the HK Incubators.

9. Requirement of less than 1,600 square feet of office space

Note:

1. In case of successful application, the applicant needs to fulfill the admission criteria throughout the incubation period, and maintain at least one full-time staff member at the office at Hong Kong Science Park Technology Incubation Centre, where they should conduct the core R&D.

2. The applicants should have a full disclosure of shareholder’s identity and holding (up to the top level) of the applying entity. The general guideline is that should there be corporate shareholders, they should not be mature companies in the same industry involving R&D of the same or similar products.

IT & Telecommunication/Electronics/Precision Engineering/Green Technology

A three-year assisting programme available for technology start-up companies. Throughout the incubation period, we offer an office space in Technology Incubation Centre in Hong Kong Science Park with subsidized rent, and various supporting services such as business development, collaboration with university and industry, training, technology support facilities and financial aid package

SOW ASIA’S I2I ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME

SOW Asia’s i2i (incubation to investment) Accelerator Programme is Hong Kong’s first and only accelerator programme that is exclusively built for social enterprises. The five-month programme has three key components, all aimed at bringing social enterprises from the proof-of-concept stage to an investment-ready status:

– Diagnostic Workshop: define and scale the social impact, clarify and improve social enterprises’ business models and refine their respective pitches with SOW Asia’s team of dedicated consultants

– Action Planning with advisors: weekly meetings with external advisors, where appropriate, and SOW Asia team to improve on problem areas that are identified through the consultancy workshops

– Pitch Nights: showcase social enterprises’ businesses to SOW Asia’s investor network (philanthropists, impact investors and angel investors). Where there is alignment, SOW Asia may also invest or co-invest.

The advantage of the i2i accelerator programme stems from its customised curriculum, which is tailored to the participating social enterprises’ needs. Rather than just providing general information about a sector through lectures and seminars, SOW Asia’s full-time consultants and highly-qualified advisors collaborate directly with the participants to refine their pitch decks and help them to maximise on their business plans.

– Hong Kong-based early-stage social enterprise with at least two co-founders
– Prototype or proof-of-concept stage for product or service are already developed
– Organisation that seeks to achieve both business sustainability and social impact

Free of charge; no equity taken. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

As of May 2019, we have helped 67 social enterprises which focused in solving different problems in the society such as biotechnology and wellbeing, poverty alleviation, social inclusion, education, health care, environment and active healthy ageing. The current cohort of five social enterprises on “Biotechnology and Wellbeing 2” reflects our focus on helping ageing population and disabled group through biotechnological and innovative technology. It also started in February and will end with a pitch night in June. In addition to one-on-one consultation, our cohort members have received business help through eight group sessions, ranging from workshops to pitch practices.

SPRINTER

Jointly launched by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”), The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (“HSBC”) and Hong Kong Business Angel Network (“HKBAN”), SPRINTER is a two-year program aiming to energize our innovation and technology ecosystem and thus build Hong Kong as a technology hub in Asia Pacific. The program is not only providing 120 technology companies in Hong Kong a series of structured training and connecting them with potential investors, but also delivering angel conferences and luncheons dedicated to business angels and individuals, with the objective of growing the business angel community in Hong Kong. SPRINTER is divided into two tracks: Entrepreneur Track and Business Angel Track.

Entrepreneur Track

This track has two cohorts and will equip at least 120 technology companies with the knowhow through a series of structured training provided by professionals including academia, bankers, venture capitalists, accountants and lawyers from Hong Kong and overseas. Ten selected companies from each cohort will enter the second stage, which focuses on supporting companies for business expansion and fund-raising over a seven-month period.

Entrepreneur Track provides the participants with opportunities to

•leverage knowledge and resources in various fields covering business model, legal and financial matters, and pitching skills for developing strong business acumen;
•receive one-on-one professional support on business consultation;
•participate in exhibitions, pitching events and roadshows in Hong Kong and Overseas;
•be connected with potential business partners/investors through investment and business matching; and
•turn their innovative ideas into marketable products/services and enlarge market footprints.

Business Angel Track

This track targets to enhance the capabilities and practical knowledge of angel investors and individuals who aspire to become angel investors through knowledge exchange activities including seminars and meetings. After completion of this track, the participants will become more familiar with the venture investment in Hong Kong so as to energize the business angel ecosystem.

Business Angel Track provides the participants with opportunities to

•receive knowledge of the venture investment environment in Hong Kong;
•navigate the knowledge for making the correct investment decisions; and
•be connected with various stakeholders who can help to establish quality deal flow.

STARS Programme (Hong Kong Startup Council)

The STARS Programme is a six-month, zero-equity accelerator programme to provide mentorship, industrial partnership and go-to-market support and product pilot opportunities to startups – a real program for real startups. The STARS Programme has served two cohorts with startups from Hong Kong, China, Korea, Sweden, Israel and USA.

THE STILE INITIATIVE

The STILE Initiative is a corporate-backed incubation program that offers startups from the Asia-Pacific region the opportunity to live in Hong Kong for 4 months and conduct pilot projects with Hong Kong corporations. This program is aimed at helping startups to build a success case, and use that to continue to expand and grow in the Asia-Pacific region.

Organized by Stan Group and run by Jumpstart Media, this incubation program offers startups a funding package valued up to US$100,000 that includes investment, accommodation, office space and monthly stipend. The program is designed with the goals of optimizing growth, building experience, and setting the foundation for startup teams to expand regionally.

The STILE Initiative leverages the vast networks of Stan Group and Jumpstart to provide dedicated and knowledgeable mentors to all startup teams, and values growth and success case accumulation highly. Each startup will work closely with a mentor to resolve their business issues and allow them to continue to grow.
