Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem has skyrocketed in the last few years. In 2016, Hong Kong saw a steady upward trend in the number of startups (+24 percent) and workstations (+24 percent), and a significant increase in the number of staff (+41 percent) from a year ago. According to InvestHK’s latest survey on Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem, there were 1,926 startups, involving 5,618 workstations and 5,229 staff as of August 2016. These are driven by the city’s supportive incubators and accelerators, the strong funding support for startups and a pool of angels/venture capitalists – plus, all the enduring business advantages that Hong Kong provides.


Methodology of Survey

An online questionnaire wascompleted by 38 target respondents, located in 28 co-working spaces and 10 incubation and acceleration programmes during 4 August-22 September 2016. Here’s a summary of our research findings:
