Climind: A Climate Ripe for Innovation

Climind: A Climate Ripe for Innovation

Climind is turning climate chaos into business clarity—one verified dataset at a time.

In a world racing to adapt to climate change, most organisations are still navigating blind. ESG teams, policy units, and analysts spend weeks wrangling fragmented data – often outdated by the time decisions are made. Enter Climind: a Hong Kong-based AI startup building the data and intelligence backbone for climate-smart decisions.

Founded just over two years ago, Climind has secured support from HKSTP, angel investors, and the TSSSU+ Fund. Founded by Karen Hanyuan Wang, a UN SDG Young Leader (one of 17 globally), and the group, a green finance and data researcher from Imperial College London, Climind began with a simple insight: climate reports take too long, and the world moves too fast. “It takes five years to produce an IPCC report,” says Karen. “By the time it lands, much of the data is already irrelevant. That’s the gap we’re closing.”

With support from InvestHK, her fledgling company was able to connect with business leaders, technologists, climate experts and even potential clients, lending it the credibility to gain backing from Tsinghua University, UN, World Bank and others.

Climind’s product consists of five “Lego modules” that provide professional large model tools for enterprises: Ask, a Q&A engine for professionals; Read, for instant interpretation of reports and other documents; Knowledge, a curated intelligence database; Data Marketplace, for acquiring and integrating verified datasets; and Agents, an intelligent agent dedicated to automating professional workflows.

According to Karen, this architecture and data quality separate Climind from rival services: “We’re not just building a single product – we’re building the data and AI infrastructure layer for knowledge workers in the sustainability sector, and refine how the industry and its professionals work.”

And the results speak volumes. ESG analysts report 85%+ time savings in manual data work. Clients like Meinian Onehealth Onecare (002044.SZ), CCXGFI, The University of Hong Kong, and Illuminem – a leading platform for sustainability information and data platform – use Climind to reduce processing time, elevate data quality, and accelerate insight generation. For compliance teams and rating agencies, the platform translates to 80–90% cost savings in ESG data operations.

But Climind’s ambitions reach far beyond finance. “Our mission is to embed sustainability intelligence into everyday workflows,” says Karen. “Whether you’re a policy officer or a portfolio manager, verified climate data and expert guidance should be right at your fingertips.”

Her advice to aspiring founders? “Don’t build for hype. Build where systems are broken – and where your solution actually moves the needle.”
